I am extremely disappointed with my experience during my appointment today. On arrival, I was greeted by the receptionist and another female member of staff who checked me in and escorted me to the waiting room. They were both pleasant and welcoming. I was informed that my scan would be carried out by the sonographer, Abi. My appointment ran approximately 30 minutes late. While waiting with a full bladder, as instructed, which was quite uncomfortable. However, I appreciate that delays can happen. Abi called my name but did not greet me, apologise for the delay, or make any attempt to introduce herself. From our very first interaction, she came across as cold, dismissive, and completely lacking in basic bedside manner. As we walked to the room, I attempted to make polite conversation but was ignored. Once in the room, I explained that this was my first experience of having this type of scan and that I was feeling nervous, hoping she would offer some reassurance. Instead, my comment was ignored entirely. Abi then instructed me to get onto the examination bed and gave me several instructions very quickly while moving around the room and mumbling. I struggled to hear what she was saying. I apologised and explained that I am partially deaf, wear hearing aids, rely on lip reading, and had never been through this process before. I politely asked if she could slow down and repeat the instructions. Her response was completely unacceptable. She rolled her eyes, sighed, and replied in a passive-aggressive tone, "As I've already once told you...". She then questioned why I had not informed the clinic about my hearing impairment before my appointment. I was shocked by both her attitude and lack of understanding. I explained that although I do inform healthcare providers when necessary, I also make a point of telling each clinician I see because that information is not always passed on. In my experience, this has never been an issue, as most healthcare professionals are understanding and simply adapt their communication where possible - which is always greatly appreciated. Despite knowing I have a hearing impairment, Abi made no effort whatsoever to communicate more clearly. I was not expecting special treatment, only basic consideration. Speaking a little more slowly, facing me while talking, or ensuring I could hear her would have made a significant difference. Instead, I was made to feel embarrassed and almost as though I was being reprimanded for having a disability. Throughout the remainder of the appointment, she continued speaking quickly, meaning I repeatedly had to ask her to repeat herself. Each time, she responded with the same dismissive phrase, "As I've already once told you," delivered in an intimidating and passive-aggressive manner. Every interaction made me feel increasingly uncomfortable. During the scan, she asked me several questions, but whatever answer I gave seemed to be challenged unnecessarily and in a rude manner. By this point, I felt completely unwelcome and intimidated. This was already a vulnerable situation, requiring me to undress from the waist down for an intimate examination. A healthcare professional should make patients feel safe, respected, and at ease. Instead, Abi's attitude made an already anxious experience significantly worse. Overall, Abi displayed a complete lack of professionalism and basic bedside manner. She was dismissive, her attitude was rude and passive-aggressive, and her conduct towards me after I disclosed my hearing impairment was vile. Given the nature of her role, caring for women in often vulnerable circumstances, I would expect a far higher standard of compassion and professionalism. As a result of this experience, I would not feel comfortable returning to this clinic and I will be informing pals.
Read on Google ↗I recently had a pelvic scan at your clinic and wanted to share my feedback. The staff were very polite and professional, making me feel comfortable and worry-free. The clinic was clean, and the service was outstanding. Thank you so much for the wonderful care!
Read on Google ↗My GP required me to have 2ultra sound scans and offered me the choice of the local hospital ( in the city 12 miles away ) or a clinic at Wrest Park a stately home 8 miles away. I chose the latter ans today was the day of my appointment What an excellent choice I made Lovely peaceful drive there, through delightful country roads and on into the grounds of Wrest Park An area. in the grounds has been developed for commercial premises. One such unit has been taken by a charming, enterprising professional lady to offer several procedures including Ultrasound scans The NHS has appeared to use some initiative for a change and, being unable to cope with the overwhelming demand on themselves, have enlisted the help of the private sector What a wonderful experience it was too The lady who did my scans, was charming, sensitive, very professional and treated me exactly how every patient should be treated whether private or on the NHS I would like to thank the Wrest Park Ultrasound clinic for this fantastic service and I hope more centres like this can be set up in other areas. This is just what the NHS should be doing, using the slack in the private health care system to fulfill duties that do not require highly trained health Consultants and reduce the excessively long hospital waiting lists I cannot thank the lady concerned enough. It was mentally a very uplifting service and I came away with hope in the future for my medical care. I am nearly 87
Read on Google ↗Would not recommend this place but if you are sent here by the NHS you don't get a choice. Firstly had to wait nearly an hour after arriving with a full bladder as instructed! Horrendous. Nurses were nice for the examination and ultrasound however results back to my doctor took over a month and were unclear... Apparently the ultrasound nurse could not locate my ovaries well enough to scan despite me having two ultrasounds one internally and one externally. I am not overweight either so not sure how they are so hard to find as I must have them for obvious reasons and the fact I have had children. Isn't that what an ultrasound clinic are supposed to be able to do... scan body parts??
Read on Google ↗The best experience I’ve ever had with something gynie! I was listened to, made to feel 100% comfortable and respected and it was 100% pain free. Sorry I can’t remember the two ladies names but I already gave feedback on the form at the clinic. Thank you so very much! Such lovely ladies.
